Case Study

Values & Standards

The Army required a series of video scenarios to use for values & standards training, as well as a number of videos to deal with diversity in the Armed Forces.

Argo developed dramatised scenarios covered a number of examples of good/bad attitudes & behaviours that provided discussion points around the Army’s core values and standards.

Argo researched and scripted the scenarios, then produced them working closely with a range of units at Aldershot to produce them. The scripts were reviewed by both the commissioned and non commissioned officers of these units and we used their inputs to develop the dialogue. We used a combination of actors and real servicemen & women to play the roles and this worked extremely well, particularly the SNCOs.

Diversity training poses a number of challenges, both in terms of getting the learning points over and avoiding “consumer resistance” to what may see as political correctness, rather than fairness and respect.

Argo worked with the Army to research real cases of discrimination from Employment Tribunals and Courts Martials to find scenarios that were firmly based in the real world, effective to the learning objectives and relevant to everyday life in the Army.

Bullying was and is a key issue in the Armed Forces and we developed the scenario we have provided on our sampler DVD. The AGC later surveyed Unit Training Officers about the support materials to they used and our DVD was rated as “excellent” in the survey.
