Case Study
Care Under Fire

In today’s warfare is “asymmetric” – on one side there are conventional armed forces fighting in uniform using normal weapons, on the other, a shadowy enemy who uses suicide bombing, improvised explosive devices and ambushes, so there is no “front line” anymore, so attacks can and do happen to anyone, anywhere at any time so knowing how to respond to an attack is vital to save life and limb.
Modern medical technology and practice is now so good that soldiers can survive massive injuries which even ten years ago would have been fatal, so with the right equipment and the right training, British armed forces can save many more lives.
“Care Under Fire” is an MoD training project that uses dramatisation to demonstrate best practice and the processes and procedures to be used to maximise the survival of seriously injured personnel under enemy attack.
This film required Argo Media to work closely with the MoD technical advisers to ensure that both the infantry tactics and medical treatment were correctly demonstrated in real time. The action is then deconstructed in the lecture that follows the film to enable the medical and combat roles to work together to extract, treat and protect casualties whilst using the firepower of the unit to suppress the enemy.
